Asia’s banknotes offer a view of a continent shaped by diverse cultures, long histories and changing ways of life. One of the most fascinating ways to explore that variety is through its currency. Banknotes are more than money; they are miniature art galleries and historical documents, carrying images that nations choose to represent their people, heritage and surroundings.
By looking closely at these designs, we can explore four recurring themes: people and national identity; architecture and cultural heritage; landscapes and nature; and agriculture, industry and development. Our journey includes portraits on Indian and Japanese notes, Cambodia’s historic architecture, Nepal’s landscapes and wildlife, and the educational and working themes found on Singaporean and Vietnamese issues.

Hello! I'm Trevor Otterson.
After 40+ years in this hobby, I've learned that a banknote is more than just paper — it's history you can hold.
My journey has taken me from being a member of the International Bank Note Society (IBNS) to being one of only 25 people ever elected into the eBay Hall of Fame. Over the years, The Banknote Man has become a trusted source for collectors around the world.
Before a back injury slowed me down, I founded the World Banknote Series with a specific mission: to keep this hobby accessible for the next generation. I've also created many fantasy banknotes over the years.
While most hobbies have priced children and everyday collectors out, I've dedicated my site to providing lower-priced and accessible banknotes with free resources and items for parents to help children get a head start on a lifetime of collecting.
Over the years, I've also expanded my collecting interests, and you can find Magic The Gathering cards, sport cards, comics, anime products, stamps, and hobby supplies at my site.

New to Our Collection: Week of October 18th
🌍 Caribbean Wildlife, Island Views and Historic Landmarks 🌍
This week we have 14 Uncirculated banknotes from the Eastern Caribbean, Netherlands Antilles, Macau, Jamaica, Honduras, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Our opening note is the Eastern Caribbean's vertically oriented polymer 10 Dollars, featuring Queen Elizabeth II and a green-throated carib. The Netherlands Antilles pair takes us back to 1970, with a Douglas DC-9 aircraft and Curaçao harbour, followed by Macau's 10 Patacas depicting the Goddess A-Má.
Jamaica's four notes bring together Dunn's River Falls and Doctor's Cave Beach, including the 2022 polymer 100 Dollars alongside the earlier paper issue. The two 50 Dollar notes share their beach design but carry different dates and catalogue references.
Our Honduras selection spans Copán's ruins, the Battle of Trinidad, the old Presidential Palace, and Tiger Island and Amapala. The two 2 Lempira issues offer a comparison of dates, signatures and printer names. A motmot on Trinidad and Tobago's 5 Dollars rounds out this week's selection.
