Obverse: Features the Afghan coat of arms with horsemen and the denomination "50 Afghanis" with text in Dari and Pashto. This 1979 note was issued just before the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, capturing the political imagery of the late Republic era.
Reverse: Displays the Dar-al-Aman Palace in Kabul, one of Afghanistan's most iconic architectural landmarks, with decorative border elements and denomination value.
The Afghanistan 50 Afghanis (P57a) from 1979 is a historically rich note issued in the final year before the Soviet-Afghan War transformed the country. The Dar-al-Aman Palace reverse is a beautiful and meaningful design, and an uncirculated example from this period is increasingly hard to find. A compelling piece for collectors of Afghan or Central Asian banknotes.
