Obverse: The coat of arms of the Republic of Belarus alongside the National Bank name and denomination in Belarusian. Issued in 1992 as part of the first banknote series of independent Belarus following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Reverse: A Wolf in a forest setting — the Grey Wolf is native to Belarus and an apex predator of the country's vast woodland regions. Belarus retains some of Europe's largest wolf populations, particularly in the Belovezhskaya Pushcha and Pripyat river basin areas. The wolf is a powerful and evocative subject for a banknote, popular with wildlife topical collectors.
