Obverse: Portrait of Saddam Hussein, President of Iraq from 1979 to 2003. His portrait appeared extensively on Iraqi currency throughout his rule. The Central Bank of Iraq text appears in Arabic alongside the denomination. A watermark portrait is visible when held to light — a fourth image of the watermark is included in the listing photos.
Reverse: A Mesopotamian monument or ancient architectural scene reflecting Iraq's extraordinarily rich historical heritage as the cradle of civilization. The Tigris and Euphrates river valleys gave rise to some of humanity's earliest cities, writing systems, and empires — a history that Iraqi banknotes have long celebrated.
