DETAILS:

Obverse: Portrait of Nicolae Iorga (1871–1940), one of Romania's greatest historians, literary critics, and statesmen, who served as Prime Minister of Romania from 1931 to 1932. The Romanian coat of arms and Banca Națională a României text appear prominently. Security features include a windowed security thread, colour-shifting ink on the denomination numeral, and an iris print background. The watermark features the Romanian national eagle holding a cross — visible in the image included with this listing.

Reverse: Curtea de Argeş Cathedral, one of Romania's most revered Orthodox Christian landmarks, built between 1515 and 1517 under the reign of Prince Neagoe Basarab. The cathedral is the burial site of Romanian royalty and a UNESCO-recognized monument. Iris flowers — Romania's national flower — appear alongside the architectural scene in violet and olive tones.

Romania's 1 Leu polymer note is one of the most beautifully designed low-denomination banknotes in Europe. First introduced in 2005 as part of Romania's currency redenomination, the B286e is a later date variety in excellent uncirculated condition. The polymer substrate gives the note exceptional clarity, durability, and a distinctive feel. A wonderful addition to any European or polymer banknote collection.
