New or Returning Banknotes to Our Collection: Week of August 31st

New to Our Collection: Week of August 31st

This week we have a varied group of new arrivals from around the world. South Africa brings two notes from their "Big Five" series, featuring the Rhinoceros and the Lion. Belarus adds four notes from their 1992 animal series — one of the most charming post-Soviet sets, with native woodland creatures including Squirrel, Beaver, Wolf, and Lynx. Rounding out the week are notes from Belize, Bolivia, Mozambique, the Bahamas, and Iraq, including notes featuring influential world leaders such as Sir Lynden Pindling and Queen Elizabeth II.

One of the things I love about certain countries banknotes is that they are a little piece of history. Canada is starting to do this and I love the idea. Honouring notable people is such a great way to make collecting more interesting and our money more meaningful.
